The pairs of etalons have matched surface figure that exceeds λ/100. They are marked to indicate the matched orientation. They are ideal for customers that are setting up there own Fabry Perot etalon cavities and want the flexibility of using there own mounting system.

Uncoated Silicon Etalons Solid etalon used to tune a high power laser

Solid silicon etalons are interesting because the high index of silicon (3.4 depending on wavelength) creates a reasonably high finesse without any coatings. The temperture sensitivity of silicon can also be useful (or problematic).

  • Wedge: 0.1 arc second typical
  • Clear aperture: 85% of diameter for lengths < 1cm

Uncoated YAG Etalons Solid etalon used for mode selection in high power laser

Solid YAG etalons are also handy because the high index of YAG material (about 1.8 depending on wavelength). This creates a reasonably high finesse without any coatings, this makes yagalons excellent for mode selection in high power solid state lasers. The additional advantage of YAG is excellent transmission in a wide range a wavelengths.
